The Origin
Before medicine became pills, it was worn.

For over a millennium, Chinese women carried herbs on their bodies — sewn into sachets at the waist, strung at the wrist, tucked into a sleeve. Mugwort. Calamus. Agarwood. Not decoration, and not superstition: simply the everyday way botanicals were kept close.

Then the habit disappeared. Medicine moved into bottles, and the scent went with it.

WORNHERB brings the practice back. Every bead is pressed from botanicals drawn out of classical Chinese formulas, strung by hand, and made to be worn daily — the way it used to be done.

Not an accessory. A ritual.

Six formulas.
One of them is yours.

Each formula is built around a different botanical base. Not sure which — the quiz takes two minutes.

What's Inside

Real botanicals.
Named, not hidden.

Every bead is compressed herb — no synthetic fragrance, no filler resin, no scent sprayed on afterwards. That is also why the scent softens over time instead of lasting forever.

01

Drawn from classical texts

The botanical combinations come from formulas recorded in classical Chinese medicine. We are not inventing blends — we are borrowing ones that have been written down for a very long time.

02

Pressed, not perfumed

Each bead is made from compressed medicinal herb. The scent comes from the material itself, which is why it is quieter than perfume and why it changes as you wear it.

03

Made to be worn daily

These are not meant to sit in a drawer. Warmth from your skin is what lifts the aromatics — the piece works because you keep it on.

Questions

Before you buy

How long does the scent last?

Because the beads are pressed herb rather than perfumed, the aromatics are strongest in the first few months and soften from roughly three to six months of daily wear. The bead itself does not wear out — the scent quietens. Most people refresh the piece rather than replace it.

What does it actually smell like?

Closer to a herbal shop or a temple than to a perfume counter. Dry, woody, green depending on the formula. It is a scent you notice at your own wrist, not one that fills a room.

Where do you ship from, and what about customs?

Orders are fulfilled through our Etsy shop. Shipping origin, delivery estimates and any import duties are shown at checkout on the listing before you pay — the United States now assesses duty on parcels of every value, so nothing is hidden until after purchase.

How do I look after it?

Keep it away from water, perfume and direct sun. Store it in the pouch it arrives in when you are not wearing it. If the scent fades, warming the beads between your palms for a few seconds usually lifts it again.

Is this medicine?

No. WORNHERB pieces are jewellery made from botanical material, sold as an object and a daily ritual. They are not a treatment, they are not a substitute for medical care, and nothing here is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. If you are pregnant, nursing or managing a health condition, talk to your doctor before wearing herbal material against your skin.

What if it does not suit me?

Returns and exchanges are handled under the policy on the Etsy listing, which is where your order and buyer protection live. Message us through Etsy and we will sort it out.
